Girls Hockey Tournament

Girls Hockey —

In Week 7 our RHS Girls Hockey Tournament team left for Dunedin for a week away on tournament.

Stopping at Timaru and Oamaru on the way, the girls had an enjoyable trip down on the Sunday. The next five days were jam packed: playing and supporting hockey games, a trip to the beach, two trips to laser tag, visiting the butterfly museum, going out for dinner, and visiting various friends and family in Dunedin.

With two games on the Monday then one game each day after that, there wasn't a lot of time to rest muscles and pre-existing injuries. We had one 'exciting' trip to have a x-ray, resulting in Addison out for a day due a ball to the foot.

Overall, it was a really fun time, with the girls together and we even managed to win a game, ending in shootouts with the amazing saves from our goalie Jess and shot by McKenzie, meaning we had to go to sudden death shootouts until Meg took the winning stroke after the other team's goalie took out Kelly. Nail biting stuff!

Finishing with a draw vs Marian who had beaten us earlier in the week left us 11th equal out of 14 teams with some pretty tough competition from around the South Island. We are proud of our team for moving up the standings this year.
