Congratulations to Carmen Holdaway and Sarah Gillespie who recently competed at the St John's National Youth Festival in Nelson against cadets from throughout New Zealand in a range of first aid and communication tests and drills.

Both girls were chosen to represent the South Island and subsequently attended weekend training camps throughout term 1 this year which was a huge commitment. 

Sarah was placed first with her partner in the pairs first aid test and Carmen gained two third placings competing as an individual. 

Both girls were up against older and more experienced cadets, so this was a fantastic achievement for them. 

Their results also contributed to the South Island squad becoming the champion region for the 6th year in a row.

They are now both preparing for another round of competitions at a district level.
