A round-up of what's been happening in sports at RHS...

Mountain Biking

This year we entered four students in the South Island School Mountain Bike Championship.

Congratulations to Sam Weir who was placed 5th in the Enduro race, 9th in the Downhill (after puncturing a tyre) to finish 7th overall. Great effort!

Athletics

Congratulations to Monica Kosta and Kayla Simmons who competed in the South Island Athletics Championships in Nelson. Monica placed 3rd in the 2000m Steeple Chase and Kayla placed 3rd in the 2000m Walk. Amazing effort girls!

Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate Frisbee is a sport on the rise at Riccarton High School! This year we had 3 teams competing at the South Island Secondary Schools Ultimate Frisbee tournament held at Hagley Park. Our Senior girls and our junior mixed team finished 2nd and our senior boys placed 3rd. An outstanding accomplishment for our teams! The Senior girls were also awarded the “Spirit” award which is a prestigious award that underpins the integrity of the self-reffed sport . Congratulations to all of those involved for being true ambassadors of the Riccarton Way.

Touch

Congratulations to our Mixed touch team who competed well in a very tough competition at the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament held in Christchurch.
