Holly Jackson (13JE) and Mia Jenkins (13BA) — May 30, 2018

Last week, Holly Jackson and Mia Jenkins were privileged to be a part of the CDHB Kia Ora Hauora Maori Work Placement Programme, which is a five-day programme designed for Maori students who want a future in Health Science.

We were part of a group of ten girls from different schools around Christchurch.

We were able to see behind the scenes of different areas and jobs around Christchurch Hospital including Canterbury Laboratories, University of Otago, Women’s and Babies Health, Paediatrics and the Emergency Department, to name a few.

This gave us a great experience and insight to jobs within Health Science areas around Christchurch.

Both of us want to do Nursing and this helped us see different areas we can go into in the Nursing sector in Christchurch, and we were able to talk to current and past ARA nurses.

We would highly recommend this amazing Kia Ora Hauora Maori Work Placement Programme, as it is an unforgettable experience.
