Congratulations Mackenzie Ngahere.

Amie Blackwell —

Last term the 'Enliven Places Programme' at the Christchurch City Council, ran a design competition to help create new templates for their projectors in the Central City. This was a design competition to showcase Christchurch’s creativity through innovative lighting.

The Christchurch City Council has multiple projectors that shine unique and creative designs to light up the city during winter.  The theme for this years competition was "What do I love about Christchurch?"   At the end of Term 1, my Year 9 Core Art rotation class created individually designed works for this competition.   Students brainstormed their ideas about what they loved about Christchurch and then decided whether they wanted to create their design by hand with a drawing, or if they wanted to construct a digitally created design using Photoshop.  A number of students were extremely keen to learn and develop some Photoshop techniques to create their own design work.

A big congratulations goes out to Mackenzie Ngahere from 9TN.  Her hand-drawn design work is one of the chosen winning entries to be projected in town.  Here are the competition details which mention her as a winner.  All winners received a $100 voucher for anywhere in the city.  Naturally, Mackenzie chose Gordon Harris Art Supplies for her winning voucher.

Mackenzie's design will be projected in Victoria Square for everybody to see and enjoy.  The first round of the projection display will be installed between the end of July and early August.
