Summer Shakespeare

Kara Ross —

Every Summer Top Dog Theatre hosts a season of Summer Shakespeare at Mona Vale. This summer, the play of choice was “The Two Gentlemen of Verona”.

The comedic tale, considered by some to be the bard’s first ever play, was set in the swinging sixties.

The first of Shakespeare’s plays to feature a woman dressing as a boy, this play introduces some of the main themes that are explored in greater depth in his future plays, like love, friendship and infidelity, the conflict between friendship and love, and the foolish behaviour of people in love.

One of the leading ladies, Julia, was played by our Kate Stedman (13SN), who did a fantastic job, as well as Rhiannon Greer (13HW), who played a convincing outlaw.

The whole show was directed by our own spectacularly talented performing arts teacher, Anna Willows.

Congratulations and well done to all those involved.
