Invitation to Parent Focus Group - Monday 20 July

Shane Morrow —

The Education Review Office (ERO) are wanting to better understand parents’ perspectives of what they would like to see in ERO community reports that are published following their review of schools. They will be conducting a focus group here at Riccarton High School, to get feedback from our parent community.

This year Deputy Principal Shane Morrow has been selected as one of six school senior leaders nationwide for the Education Review Office’s Leader Partnership Programme. This is giving him great experience as well as insights into the work that the office does with schools.

An opportunity has arisen through his connection with this programme that might interest parents/caregivers.

You may have looked at ERO reports when researching schools. ERO are interested in what parents would like to see in a report, how they would best like to access reports etc. They’d like to make sure they are accessible and useful to parents and other community members.

We are seeking a group of parents/caregivers who would be available to meet at Riccarton High School at 10am on Monday 20 July. The focus group meeting is expected to take approximately one hour and will be facilitated by two ERO Review Officers with Shane in attendance. They will bring some draft formats of reports and will have some questions for you to respond to. There is no preparation required for the focus group.
