Sigma D-Photo Amateur Photographer of the Year

Amie Blackwell HOF Arts —

Congratulations to Max Killoh who came third in the Junior category of the Sigma D-Photo Amateur Photographer of the Year competition.

The image was created from two composite images. It was shot with rudimentary equipment, using my bedroom's blind as a backdrop, and high power torches for lighting all while using a tripod and self-timer mode. - Max Killoh.

The images were then processed through Adobe Lightroom and then Photoshop so they could be composited together. Then some final lighting/colour touch ups on Lightroom again.

He entered this photograph called Duality into the Sigma Amateur Photographer of the Year Junior Category last term, and was invited to attend the exhibition of the winning photographs from all the categories, including his own, at the Metro Art Gallery in Auckland.

Mark Gee wrote this about Max's work in the D-Photo magazine alongside his photograph:
"The young photographer set out to capture something creative with this double-exposure shot and has executed his vision very well, from photographing each exposure and getting the lighting right to the technical aspect of using the flow of the body to blend the two exposures together. This photo demonstrates the entrant is producing photography beyond his years."
