Library News

Sally Blake —

Wow term one seems to have whizzed by in no time.

What have we been up to - what haven't we been doing? The Library has been super busy with orientation, signing up new students to get library cards, database sessions, digital citizenship, book club, students helping with library service, GenConnect.

New this term has been a Creative Writing Club which meets fortnightly.  Also, Youth Town are running Drivers Licence courses in the library. There will be another one in term two if you are keen. These are open to anyone: students and public.

Readers Cup 2018 is happening at Riccarton High School this year and we are very excited about it. This is the first time the Year 9 competition has happened in Canterbury. Riccarton has six teams who will compete next week to find one winning team to go through to the Canterbury competition. There are 11 schools from around Christchurch taking part.

Do you speak Korean? Check out the latest blog on the Christchurch City Library website from Library Assistant,  Jo - Korean Blog.

School holidays are a great chance to chill. The Library has lots of fun activities for children with many of them free. Check out what is available here, Holiday Programme.

If you would like to know about any of these fun activities, please see Ms Blake or Miss Howie in the Library, or email us at library@riccarton.school.nz
