Brilliant Band Camp
Two weekends ago the Concert Band held our annual Hanmer Springs Band Camp.
All but three members attended, and the weekend was filled with some lengthy music practices and wholesome time spent hanging out on the grounds or next to the fire with our friends and peers.
The amazing Ms Plummer and Mr Thorpe organised the entire camp, with Mr Thorpe as the conductor and bus driver. For our Year 13's, this was their last band camp and they made sure that it was a memorable one. The band had plenty of free time between practices to hang out with each other and play games such as heated table tennis matches or Uno rounds, and during the second night we were driven down to Hanmer Springs Hot Pools, where we were able to have a great time despite the rain.
Overall, the band had another amazing camp levelling up our group playing, exploring the grounds and spending time with some great people. An additional thanks goes to Ms Cording and her daughter, who took the place of Mr Morrow and joined us on camp. The camp would never have been able to take place if not for Ms Plummer, Mr Thorpe and Ms Cording!
The Concert Band will be performing their half hour programme at the Concert Band Festival on Sunday September 18th at 3pm in the Papanui High School Hall. We would love for you to come along and support us.
