Conference at St Andrews
Earlier this term, 10 Riccarton High school students had the amazing opportunity to go to St. Andrews College for a conference on a variety of interesting topics.
The moment we arrived, we were greeted by the large interior and echoing belly of the St Andrews Chapel.
We listened to four different talks from a representative from Oxford University. She talked about the controversial, the ethical and the future. We learnt so much about ourselves, rule-making, and nano-technology and we got to hear from the other students in a debate whether we should always tell the truth.
There were about 15 other schools that came and we got to get into mixed groups to brainstorm ideas for an assigned task. As we brainstormed together, we learnt about what the students from the other schools thought about the topic & it was really interesting to hear their opinion about fairness in our world.
All of the Riccarton students enjoyed the conference and appreciated the representative from Oxford for the talks as well as St Andrews College for hosting us.
