2016 10 ART Semester 2 Art Trip

Amie Blackwell —

Ms Blackwell took her Second Semester Year 10 Art students by bus to the Christchurch CBD to visit Art works and Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu.

Students walked along the Avon and to the newly opened Arts Center to view Sir Antony Gormley's Stay, sculptural works which comprise of two twin humanoid cast-iron statues in two separate locations.

Then they went to Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu to see the following exhibitions: Beast’s, The Devil’s Blind Spot: Recent Strategies in New Zealand Photography, Bad Hair day and Energies by Haines and Hinterding.

The highlight for students being the Energies exhibition. Special thanks goes to Ms Trott who gave up her time to also accompany us on this trip and who was able to give scientific expertise which shed more insight into the scientific nature of the Energies exhibition.
