The Step-Up Programme

Lisa Heald —

The Step-Up Programme reinforces the Riccarton Way values and aims to develop and continue good work and study habits.

Riccarton is continually looking to improve the academic performance of our students. The programme recognises and rewards students for managing self, participating and contributing, and relating to others.

Points are awarded in the above categories in each student’s reports. The last report of the year includes the Step-Up points total for the whole year. We expect every student to score more than 55% in their Step-Up points at the end of the year in order for them to be able to move into the following year level. Sometimes a low points total could jeopardise a student progressing to the next year level.

We use the points total to determine whether senior students deserve to be awarded an independent study license, and we also celebrate and reward our highest junior student points earners.

There is further explanation of the Step-Up Programme in the student diary and on each term’s report.
