Device Advice

Melissa Clarke —

Several parents have asked about device use at home and school.

All Year 9 students are required to have their device at school as needed as we have blended learning in our classrooms and the use of devices is part of that. However, devices may not be required for every lesson of every day.

We are encouraging students to be responsible for their own device. This includes having those devices fully charged and using their devices appropriately.

At home, students may need to use their device for homework. It is advisable to have a device in a shared, supervised space in your home. It is also good to be off devices at least an hour before bed to ensure optimal sleep.

Conversations at home about ‘positive in’; to make them think about what they are reading and watching and positive out; to make them think about what they are posting on a device, are important to have with your sons and daughters.

Please remind your young people not to allow access or use of their computer to anyone else.

We realise that our students are using technology increasingly. However, we want them to be connected - to the real and wonderful people and places around them.
