GirlBoss NZ Awards 2021

Huda Mazharuddin —

The GirlBoss NZ awards are the recognition and naming of a select handful of women from around New Zealand, who work to try and create change within their community.

I was honored to be named and recognized along with 12 other amazing young women across Aotearoa, and was given the privilege of receiving 2021’s Volunteering Award by GirlBoss founder, Alexia Hilbertidou, for my work in the community and raising money for Yemen children with Unicef.

On the 29th of March 2022, while attending the GirlBoss Awards ceremony, I had the privilege to speak about how our actions matter. The other award recipients also spoke and I found it both an amazing and inspiring experience to hear from these incredible young women, who have done and continue to do extraordinary work. Receiving an award for my work wasn't something I was expecting when I applied but I am honoured to have done so.

Due to COVID-19, the ceremony was unable to be held live in Auckland so was broadcasted via Zoom instead. You can watch the video here:

It’s a privilege to be able to get this award because it’s a reminder to me that I’m contributing to something that is bigger than myself. I’ll do my best continue to do my part to help Unicef and my community and I would like to thank GirlBoss and to everyone who supported me on this journey.
