Kohanga Ako Term 1 2017

Linda Leishman —

Kohanga Ako students are excited to be back to school and have made an enthusiastic start to the year.

We welcome Katelyn Champion to the Department this year.

It seems slightly strange not to have Mrs Turnbull around but we are happy to know she will be coming with us to our camp at Living Springs in March.

Here is what some of us think about the start of 2017:

I like TBall because it is a lot of fun playing against other schools in Christchurch and we sometimes win – Daniel

I went to the Family BBQ. I liked the food and being with my friends. I went swimming and had fun – Katelyn

I enjoyed going to Papanui High School to play TBall. We had a great time – Tyrone

I enjoy Seesaw on the iPad because my family can see me learning new things and it is fun – Sajal

Things I have liked about school are watching a movie at the Family BBQ, dancing, shopping for my stationery, gardening and starting at ARA – Hayley B

I enjoy TBall, swimming, cooking and going on outings – Tevin-Lee

I started RDA this year. I go with Mr Smith, Mrs Bowles, Savanna, Sajal and New. My horse is called Patsy and she is dark brown. I do gardening on Thursday and I like weeding – Oliver

I like swimming and gardening. We swim at Kings Swim School. I used a noodle to help me float. Mrs Payne and Mr Smith help with Gardening. I like raking the leaves – Aman

I go to French with Katelyn on Thursday. I know how to say hello in French – Bonjour – Mitchell

I went to the Family Day BBQ, which was pretty nerve racking because 6 weeks of summer was pretty nice. I didn’t want 6 weeks to go fast – Tim

I like being in the Cooking room. Mrs Kings shows us new recipes for cooking this year. I enjoyed Art with Mrs Smith and doing shotput and discus practise. The best is PE with Miss Bell because I like playing games – Hayley M

I love going on outings. We went to Westfield Mall at Riccarton and I brought stationery. I love going to ARA because you can learn everything and it is fun – Amy

I enjoyed swimming at Kings Swim School. It is good practise for Special Olympics swimming – Georgia

I like outings because enjoy the trip. I went with Mrs Bowles, Mrs Payne and Mrs Andrews to the mall and looked around the shops – New

I like making fruit salad in cooking and going to sport. We went to Papanui to play TBall and I like to bat the ball. I also enjoyed dance with Mrs King and I liked connecting in pairs. My swimming instructor was teaching us how to do a mermaid in the water at Kings Swim School. We have been working on our Gala Day banner - Cheyenne

We would like to say thank-you to Mrs Smith and Miss Bell who are teaching us Art and PE in the mainstream this year.
