Amie Blackwell —

For many Visual Arts students, term one began with trips to the city to see the Street Art exhibition Spectrum.

Kalina Harmer Campbell took her 1ART (1), 1ART(4) and her 2/3 Art Design class. Amie Blackwell and student teacher Maria MacDonald took the Semester 1 Year 10 option Art class.

Spectrum, exhibited by Oi You! in partnership and (held at) the YMCA on Hereford street, is the second exhibition of its type to be held at the YMCA. Students saw artworks created by 18 amazing artists in eight stunning exhibition spaces and another 12 blank city-centre walls transformed into fabulous works of art. This year's headline artists were Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada, Seth, Telmo & Meil, Vexta, Berst, Deow, Elliot Frances Stewart and Ikarus were complemented brilliantly by Selina Miles, Sofles, and NZ artists Flox, Jacob Yikes, Wongi, Milton Springsteen, Power and Teeth amongst others - all of whom worked together to produced a truly immersive experience inside the YMCA massive exhibition space.

Robyn Webster took her combined Year 13 Painting and Printmaking class on a trip to her home where she and her partner Llew Summers have studio spaces where they create their work and an extensive art collection of well known NZ artists' work.
