Korfball is growing at Riccarton High and we are super excited

We have three amazing teams who give up their Friday nights and commit to early mornings to play Korfball. All our players have shown so much potential and enthusiasm for the sport. Our junior teams have developed and improved over the season with the help of our four amazing senior coaches.

In the Mixx Secondary School Korfball Championship, our Junior A team started the season with a tie but as the team gained confidence they ended up playing a head-to-head game against Christchurch Girls High, placing 5th in their division.

The Junior B team made leaps and bounds in their skills and gained confidence playing a tough game in the final against Avonside Girls High School. Unfortunately, due to injury and starting with a player short, the team missed out on placing top of their division.

Our Senior team has struggled with not having enough girls in their team, but have persevered and in doing so, they have grown as a team. They have played some really tough and intense games, all the while keeping their chins up and continuing to battle it out until the last minute of their final game.

As the teacher in charge, I am so impressed with all the students who have participated and committed to playing Korfball this season. I am excited to see them flourish and excel as they continue to train during the winter months for the upcoming tournaments later in the year.
