Senior Māori Student Hui

On the 12th of February, the senior Māori students gathered together for a day of activities facilitated by a few year 13 students.

The activities that each student particpated in were all based around different ideas: project planning and identifying as a Māori rangatahi within the community.

Throughout this session, we shared a lot of whakaaro around different projects that we would like to invest our time into during the course of this year.

The Mana Toroa executive collated these ideas and after a lot of kōrero have settled on designing and creating panels of artwork to be displayed within the school and to establish a mentoring programme for next year’s junior Māori students, plus a few other ideas that may possibly arise during 2019.

This day was overall very successful as we managed to bring everyone together to express each and every student’s aspirations for Riccarton High.
