Work Experience at Riccarton High School

Here at Riccarton we strive to create opportunities for our young people to be an active part of their community and learn skills needed for their lives beyond the school gate. Two Kohanga Ako students have been participating in work experience at their local cafes, in Rolleston and Templeton.

Georgia Flanagan has been learning the ropes in The Gatehouse Cafe kitchen and also in front-of-house roles, such as serving customers and packing up at the end of the day. She has been gradually extending her time at work over this term.

Hayley Butler now spends her Mondays working at Robert Harris Cafe in Rolleston, where she has been an asset in food preparation and front-of-house roles.

Tino pai rawa atu Georgia and Hayley!
