Tenā Koutou
As we near the end of term 1, its fantastic to reflect on the fact that a large number of our students have been able to participate in a range of educational, sporting and cultural events on offer throughout the school and across New Zealand without restrictions brought about by Covid 19. You will find reports on a number of these events in our newsletter.
Once again, my sincere thanks to our dedicated staff, outside coaches/managers and supportive parents-without you, many of these opportunities available to our students would not be possible.
One of the highlights from this term has been to hear the positive feedback from our Year 10 students and their teachers regarding their camp at Orohaki.
Students have been involved in a range of activities that have not only helped with building self confidence and strong team dynamics but have also allowed us to reinforce our Riccarton Way values in an outdoor education setting.
Our Year 9 students can look forward to a similar experience when they head to camp in term 2. We are very proud of what we are creating at Orohaki and it is something that we would like to share with our whole school community.
You have an opportunity to come and join us for an Open Day at the facility on Sunday 2 May, from 10:00am-2:00pm. Further details are available in this newsletter. We look forward to you joining us!
Finally, for those who manage to get some time off, can I wish you a restful April holiday break. Term 2 is already shaping up to be another busy one. I look forward to catching up with you at one of the many events that we have scheduled.
In the meantime, please do not hesitate in getting in contact if there is something that we can be doing to make your child’s experience at Riccarton High School a better one.
Ngā mihi
Neil Haywood
