Year 12 Leadership Camp

On the 17th and 18th of August, a group of Year 12 students made the trip out to Living Springs Camp.

Lead by Mr Rick Harlow, the Year 12 Leadership Camp organisers (Yr12 students) had coordinated a Leadership Camp for those students wanting to pursue leadership development. An action-packed schedule was delivered which included team-building games being run by the students. Starting off with ice breakers we then dived into an epic newspaper & sellotape fashion show. Food was catered for by Living Springs Camp, who put on excellent meals throughout the weekend. After dinner we all enjoyed a rather competitive quiz, following which, we hit the hay for the night and woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed ready for next morning. A quick breakfast and we got stuck back into the program. To get us all moving we had a rotation of games filled with activities like musical chairs and balloon stomp.

Of course, the camp wasn’t just fun and games. Throughout the duration we had many role models come and speak with us, including Mr Haywood, Ms Heald, Mr Hammond, current students and even past students.  All came to share their wisdom with us. Mixed in with some fun, it was the perfect environment for all of us to learn about leadership and what it takes to be a great leader. These are life-long skills that will help us be better in any group environment, whether it’s at school or out in the workforce.

It was great to see everyone getting along and applying the Riccarton Way outside of the classroom.

This trip would not have been possible without the helping hands of Mr Harlow, Ms Trott or Ms Bell. A massive thank you to all of the staff involved!
