Senior netball tournament

This year the Senior A netball team went to Timaru to compete in a three-day tournament.

Due to COVID it was not the usual competitive South Island tournament but instead a smaller experience. It was great to be able to go away after the initial disappointment of tournament being cancelled. The first day we faced the challenge of playing 3 outdoor games of 7 minute quarters in extreme wind. Our first two games went really well but the last game we went down in a close match against Marian. This, unfortunately, meant we missed out on making the top section after we ended up third in our pool due to a three-way tie at the top.

The crazy weather Monday night led the tournament organisers to arrange for our games to be played indoors at Aorangi Stadium. Unfortunately, this meant that our supporters were unable to watch due to no spectators being allowed inside. We are so grateful for all of the support that we have received from family and friends this year and wanted to finish the tournament on a high, which we did. We won our remaining games convincingly.

The tournament was so much fun! The scavenger hunt was a highlight for everyone and the time spent hanging out and getting to know each other has bonded us as a team and given us more hype for next year (we will miss you Sarah xx).

A massive thank you to Danielle Gillespie for being camp mum and keeping us fed with delicious food. Also thanks to Miss Mountford and Mrs Rowlands for managing/coaching us.

Can’t wait for next year!
