Christchurch Wind Festival

The Concert Band performed at the Christchurch Wind festival last Sunday at Papanui High School.

The band was well prepared for this having been on camp just a few weeks prior. Our 40 piece band produced an excellent performance of the four main pieces we have been working on this year.

The adjudicator Tony Ryan made the comment that the band played like a unified team and the band played with equal commitment. He especially liked the quieter flute solo sections in the Japanese inspired piece ‘Inchon”, and he felt the full band sound was also excellent, especially in our final piece Viva Mexico.

To conclude, this has been a terrific year for the Concert Band despite the lock down. This is due to the excellent attendance we have at rehearsals, students are demonstrating superb commitment, and as a result we were given a GOLD award.
