Te Ao Māori Kapa Haka - Tikanga
The Hikairo Schema
At the start of the year our teachers had the opportunity to take part in some fantastic professional learning based around being culturally responsive in the way we teach our learners. We were fortunate to have two authors of the Hikairo Schema resource (Te Hurinui Renata Karaka-Clarke and Rachel Maitland) come to present and lead workshops. This had our teachers looking at what they currently do in the classroom and what steps they need to take in the future to enhance their culturally responsive teaching. This is a fantastic journey for our school to be on as we look to keep striving to enhance the learning opportunities for all our learners.
Kapa Haka
Kapa Haka got off to a great start this year with lots of rangatahi signing up and getting into their mahi during our Tuesday practice. We welcome any newcomers to come along and join our group.
Matua Jason has teamed up with Tim Pirikahu, an experienced Kapa haka tutor from within Ōtautahi. We look forward to working with the rangatahi and meeting the whānau.
