Rolleston College —

Alice Kennedy, Savannah Bruce, Bhavya Malhotra and Devin Hunt enjoyed a well deserved lunch with Mrs Skelton for gaining 16 or more recognitions in Term Two. Well done to these learners for always displaying the Rolleston Spirit and being R2L!

With the worst of the winter hopefully behind us, a reminder for learners to be in the correct school uniform when they are at school. Wearing the uniform correctly is a great way to show respect to yourself and the school. Learners are also reminded that PE uniforms should only be worn in PE classes and that they need to get changes out of PE uniform at the end of these lessons.

There has been lots in the news recently (and as per the article in the last newsletter) about the importance of regular attendance at school. “Every school day is a big day”, therefore learners need to be on time and attending lessons so that they can make the most of the wonderful opportunities that they have. Ako and Advisory Coaches are the first point of contact to help support this when needed. Don’t forget that Wednesday is an earlier start at 8.30am!

Recently, Mrs Tippett, Miss Gimblett and Mr McBrearty attended the National PB4L (R2L) Conference in Wellington. They heard from a variety of keynote speakers and from other schools about different ways of supporting learners to be R2L at school and will be looking at implementing some of the ideas they heard and saw. They also presented two workshops about R2L and Wellbeing at Rolleston College, outlining different tools and strategies that are being used. They received extremely positive feedback about their presentation and the initiatives at Rolleston College. Well done to these three staff members!
