Sports Update

Leanne Croucher —

College Sports is navigating its way through Term 1 Sport under our current climate. Firstly we would like to thank all students and parents/caregivers for their efforts during this time. Plans/Logistics change at the drop of the hat and the Sports Department really appreciate everyone's patience and help during this time.

With the sport we have going at the moment Rolleston College is putting their best foot forward & representing the College with our Rolleston Spirit.

A couple of weeks ago we had 7 girls representing Rolleston College at their first Kayaking competition which was held at Lake Hood. The girls had an awesome day and came away with a few placing ribbons and a whole lot of laughs and smiles. A couple of unexpected swims were had as well! The coaches were very impressed with all the performances and look forward to their next regatta in around 6 weeks and even whispers of nationals on the cards! Thanks must go to Paul and Dale from Arawa Kayaking Club who have taken our team into their club.

Other Teams that have been competing are Cricket Gillette Cup, Saturday 1st X1 & Junior Boys, Mixed Touch at Prebbleton, Module and Super Touch on Wednesday. Surfing and Mountain Biking squad are getting out catching waves and burning the ground up at McLeans Island. Volleyball senior girls and boys competed last weekend in tournaments, and did their best despite having limited training. Futsal Senior boys & two junior teams are competing well on a Wednesday afterschool competition and the Senior team competed in a tournament last weekend.

Winter Sports are slowly gearing up so please look out for when trials are via weekly emails from the Sports Department, Facebook page and daily school notices.

Please look at Rolleston College’s new webpage, this will be the way forward for learners to register and pay for sporting activities.
