Leaders Spotlight

Leanne Croucher —

After a good holiday break, we are back into the swing of things! We are very excited for a busy but exciting term!

In week one, we had the Selwyn Youth Council come to survey the students about what they would be interested to see more of at the Rolleston Community Centre. There were small giveaways and a chance to go into the draw to win a UE boom! It was great to see a wide range of learners getting involved and having their say.

We are always looking to encourage positive relationships across year levels and one way we are making this happen is through ‘Feel Good Friday’ which we introduced to the Year 13 learners at our recent hui and will be doing as of this Friday. Feel Good Friday is where Year 13s students are outside connecting with younger students and peers whether it’s talking or running games/events. We feel this will have a positive impact and benefits for our school as a whole. There will also be more Year 13 leadership learners on duty at break times so we encourage all students to talk to them if they need anything.

We have our Big Sing competition coming up in week 3 and all the whanau are putting in their best efforts to take out the win and get some valuable whanau points. Also in Week 3 Friday lunchtime we have a Year 13 vs Teachers game of dodgeball which will be a very competitive game from both sides (but mostly the students)!

We are planning our Year 13 graduation dinner and the date is set for 2nd December. Each student is allowed 2 guests (parents/caregivers/grandparents/significant adults). Make sure to save the date!

We are really looking forward to the term ahead as it is our last one all together before our Seniors go on study leave!
