R2L - (Ready to Learn)

Rolleston College —

It has been great to see R2L (Ready to Learn) flourishing throughout the school during term two. We have seen many recognitions handed out, and many senior learners achieve their badges. Well done to everyone for their hard work.

Highlight:

A massive congratulations to Brielle Yeung, Jackson Black & Brianna Hellyer on receiving the most clicks at the College last term! They received a lunch with the Principal to celebrate their hard work and dedication to their learning. Learners earn clicks for demonstrating the Rolleston Spirit, and by going above and beyond in their learning. Well done team, we hope you enjoyed your lunch!

Recognitions:

Junior Rewards: Throughout the term, learners can earn ‘clicks’ for displaying the Rolleston Spirit and being R2L. All staff at the College can award ‘clicks’ which count towards a variety of different prizes.

5 clicks = Whānau points

10 clicks = An entry into the draw to win one of three $30 vouchers

30 clicks = $5 Canteen voucher

Principals Lunch - Top 20% of learners with the most clicks for the term

We encourage our junior learners to continue working hard and obtaining these clicks as the term comes to an end.

Senior Rewards: Senior learners can also earn clicks, but are mainly working towards achieving their R2L Badges. These badges are awarded to learners who consistently show the Rolleston Spirit around the school and demonstrate to others what being R2L looks like. We have Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum badges that come with a variety of privileges. These badges can be mentioned on job applications, or in University applications. Congratulations to the following learners who received their badges this term.

Bronze: Diego Gamboa, Ashley McLean, Madeleine Parker and Nisha Magar

Silver: Tasman Boskell

Gold: Katie Manson

Platinum: Rebecca Hunter & Donia Mikhaeil

Uniform:

A part of being R2L - being Ready to Learn is wearing the correct school uniform. This shows we are proud of our kura and creates a sense of belonging. As we move into the colder months we would like to remind learners and their whānau of the uniform we have to keep warm. These are the school polar fleeces, softshell jackets or grey knitted jerseys. Hoodies/crew necks of any colour are not part of our school uniform.

Learners may wear black/navy tights/stockings and we also have school regulation navy pants. Learners can also wear black/navy thermals/long sleeved tops underneath their polos/shirts. If you need any support with uniform items please contact your child’s Ako or Advisory coach.
