My name is Gabby Thomas and I am a brand new teacher at Rolleston College in the Health and P.E. department. After studying sport and recreation management on a netball sports scholarship at Lincoln University, I decided to train to be a teacher in 2020. I have previously worked as the sports coordinator at Hillmorton High School for two years. Outside of teaching I am a group fitness instructor at Les Mills and love anything to do with people, movement and coffee!

Fun fact: at the end of this year my last name will be Janssen. I'm getting married. Yay !!!

My name is Rhys Mathieson, I am teaching Global Voices, 9 connected, and I am the Ako coach for Raumati 10.

It is my first year teaching so I'm extremely excited at the opportunity to begin my career at a great school like Rolleston College.

My hobbies are mostly sports related, I play rugby, cricket, basketball and golf. I'm looking forward to getting to know the Rolleston College family this year.

I'm one of the new Mathematics and Statistics teachers this year. I have come from Cashmere High School where I taught both Maths and Stats, and Statistics at all NCEA levels. I have always loved finding out about the world, analysing numbers, breaking them down and making them easier to understand. I hope I can pass on my enthusiasm to students at Rolleston. Outside school I am a lover of dance and singing, having spent many years rehearsing and performing in amateur theatre. I have two girls, 12 and 14 years, so feel pretty well equipped to deal with the ups and downs of teenage life. The team at RC have been lovely and welcoming here, and I am looking forward to the year ahead.

This year I have had the privilege of stepping into the role of Director of Sport for Rolleston College. I'm very privileged and honoured to have been offered this role and excited to drive sport at Rolleston College, and we have awesome plans & ideas for the future but as the school grows we will grow and develop too. It's the first time working at a school so it is a new environment to get used too but it has been made easy with the awesome team at Rolleston College. My previous role I was a contractor to MPI in the Mycoplasma Bovis Cattle disease and worked in the role for nearly 4 years but when you're away from home 75% of the time, it's time for change and get back to what I love and that's sport. Previous to that I owned Selwyn Strength (CrossFit Selwyn) and Strength & Conditioning Coach for Perth Football Coach (Aussie Rules). I'm blessed to have a beautiful wife who supports me in whatever I undertake in life, and have two children Issac (6) attends Broadfield Primary School and Ellie (4) who will be attending Broadfield later this year. We live on a 30ha property in Broadfields, and train race horses and have some cattle, and a mad Golden Lab 'Alfie Dog'. Outside of work and family life, my main passion is Rugby, and this year I have taken a role as Assistant Coach for High School Old Boys Premier team which is a great challenge for me and I am enjoying the pre season and hopefully will coach a Ellesmere Rep team if selected later in the year. Have a Good 2021 everyone, and if you want to talk Sport or Sponsorship please don't hesitate to contact me.
