Rowing at Rolleston College

We are lucky enough to have a partnership with the Union Rowing Club which allows learners to participate in rowing from a ‘Learn to Row’ programme, social rowing and a competitive squad.

With the competitive season underway it has given our squad a chance to get stuck in and show what they’re made of! They have taken part in two regattas so far - the Aoraki 1000 in Twizel and recently took part in Ashburton Rowing Regatta and did exceptionally well - lots of 1st and 2nd placings in their quad and doubles. From only beginning their competitive training programme since the start of Term 3, it is admirable to see the gains they have made & just how committed they are to developing themselves through sport.

During their races the rowers are mixed up with others from the club in order to learn from others; including rowing with their coaches, as seen from some of the photos below!

From Rolleston College we have Nic Pilditch, Isabella McConaghty, Caitlin Dent, Sam Lewell & Ella McNab.
We are really proud of the commitment & resilience these learners have shown to their sport and developing self and look forward to seeing how they continue to progress. They have another regatta on the weekend of the 12/13th December in Twizel.

Of course they couldn’t do it without their coaches from Union of course their parents who transport them all over town!
