Tupu Aotearoa Programme
Supporting Pasifika people to gain tools and skills that enable them to thrive.
On Thursday the 2 March, the cultural leaders, Mr Hines and two of our Pasifika Students Luisa Vuidravuwalu and Victor Woodhouse attended the official opening ceremony for Tupu Aotearoa.
A little background of Tupu Aotearoa: it is a free program which can extend the knowledge and skills, supports tāngata Pasifika who are 15 years and over, and have many mentors who can help with struggles or needs.
If you would like to get your driver's licence this program can help you achieve this goal or if you are leaving school and need more qualifications, this program helps to get you started with a planner to accomplish goals which you and your mentor would discuss.
During this ceremony we saw how different cultures celebrate a new beginning. Luisa Vuidravuwalu commented that "it was great to see other Pacific students take pride in their culture and ethnicity. I hope that Roncalli take a step forward in expressing culture even more and learn about other ethnic groups in this school. Culture is a key part in your life and you shouldn’t have to change that for anyone."
