TO SEEK TRUTH AND PEACE

Rachael Burrowes —

Welcome to our new students, staff and families.

Roncalli College Mass

As we gathered to open our spiritual year at the College, we gathered in the beautiful Sacred Heart Basilica to renew our faith and welcome those new to our community. At our opening Mass there was a special blessing for our new students and staff as well as a blessing for our student leaders. We hope that the spirit of St Pope John XXIII (Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli) will guide our students and staff this year to serve our community and live our values of justice and service.

Year 13 Retreat

We were fortunate to again continue with our traditional Year 13 Retreat at Raincliff Youth Camp. Over the two days students listened to and reflected on a number of different topics, discussions and aims for 2023. We thank the Marist Team from Wellington, supported by Father Mark Walls (sm) who spent two days supporting our Year 13 cohort. Many thanks to all the staff who made this retreat possible, it was certainly a memorable experience for all.

Lent

As we begin our Lenten journey, over the next 40 days we as College will endeavour to deepen our relationship with God, give to others and fasting in different ways as Pope Francis reminds us. As we move towards the greatest feast in our Catholic faith that of Easter, look out for ways in our newsletter in which our community will be helping those affected by the recent Cyclone Gabrielle.

Ash Wednesday

This year the entire Roncalli College community gathered together to receive the ashes to mark the start of the season of Lent. Many thanks to our Special Character Leaders, Student Leaders and staff in preparing a thoughtful and special Liturgy.
