Before I started Gateway this year I wanted to be a mechanic or anything to do with cars or trucks.

When I started Gateway I had 3 taster days which were with Tyre General, Timaru Motors and Dan Cosgrove Ltd.

I selected Tyre General as my placement, I go every Wednesday to work experience where I work alongside the team. The work I do involves removing wheels off cars or trucks, then I use the tyre machine to swap the old tyres for new ones then use the wheel balancing machine to balance the wheel then put it back on the vehicle.

As part of my Gateway class I have completed a Health and Safety course and a First Aid course. I have also created a CV and have completed work on knowledge of vehicles.

My goal is to get a full time job working with cars.

If anyone is thinking of doing Gateway I recommend it and would say to work your hardest.
