Easter 2020

Adele Churchman —

To repent is to change your heart

This Lent has bought more radical change into our lives than was barely imaginable a month ago.

Most have reacted with resilience, kindness and agility, saving lives. Volunteering, offering support, solidarity. We are reminded of how precious life on earth is. Perhaps we have increased our efforts in the kitchen or the garden, and become more grounded. Living in the present moment.

The present moment is life itself and thus God’s presence in our world. This is our Easter. We are being forced to live in the now, as some of our trappings of materialism have been stripped away.

We are called to connect to each other more meaningfully yes over Skype and phone calls but also in thought and prayer. We can still smile at people in the distance and hold them close in our hearts.

This present moment, this life, this Divine presence, calls us to be firmly grounded and to live joyfully.

Coronavirus lockdown in Lent calls us to live out our Easter message of groundedness and joy with those in our bubble and with those in our wider community.
