Roncalli College Rugby
The 2018 season has started well for Roncalli with four teams playing in the Roncalli blue and gold hoops.
There are great numbers in each of the Under 14.5, Under 16, Girls and First XV squads. The College continues to support players from other schools that do not have the pathway they need and it is fantastic to note that both Mountainview and Waimate High Schools are catered for within the Roncalli framework and we welcome those families.
The First XV are once again part of the Crusaders UC Championship and have had a mixed pre season with some notable wins against St Kevins and Kavanagh, regaining and retaining the Simpson Dorgan Trophy and the Haggart Cup, and a hard fought 10 all draw with Waitaki Boys High School.Facing two of the perenial front runners (CBHS and Nelson College) in the first two rounds will challenge and test the boys early, but also harden them for the the games that follow, the next home game being against Waimea Combined on the 26 May.
