Successful Mercy Cup Tournament hosted by Roncalli College in Timaru.

Roncalli hosted the annual Mercy Cup Tournament in Timaru on Tuesday 19 June. We were super excited to have a sunny beautiful day.

The following schools are participated:

  • Villa Maria College (Christchurch)
  • Marian College, (Christchurch),
  • Catholic Cathedral College (Christchurch),
  • John Paul II (Greymouth)
  • Roncalli College (Timaru)
  • St Kevins College (Oamaru)

The following sports/grades schools are competed in were:

  • Netball: Senior A, B, C, Junior Year 10 and Year 9.
  • Hockey A Grade
  • Football A Grade

All netball and hockey games were played at Aorangi Park. Due to the ground conditions the Football was moved to Sir Basil Arthur Park.

To host such an event would not be possible with the support of many people so I would like to acknowledge the following:

As hosts we catered, providing morning tea and lunches for the umpires/referees, officials and staff and provided afternoon tea for everyone (approximately 500 people). We would like to acknowledge the Roncalli College PTA, Karen Wilson, Tracey Talbot, Gina Ellis and there amazing team of volunteers who gave up their time to cater for this event. It was a big task and you did a splendid job.

Senior A Netball - shared Fair play award with St Kevin's College

Senor B Netball - Runners Up (McCauley Cup)

Year 10 Netball - Fair play award

Year 9 Netball - Runners Up (Mercy Minor Cup)

Hockey - shared Fair play award with Marian, ST Kevin's and Villa

Football - shared Winners (MERCY CUP) with Marian College. shared Fair play award with Marian, St Kevin's and Villa.

Congratulations to everyone involved. Catholic Cathedral College are hosts for 2019.
