Pink Shirt Day.

Ellen Walsh —

We had a number of different inititives happening on Pink Shirt Day at Roncalli College.

  • Staff and students dressed in pink and brought gold coins to be donated to the NZ Mental health foundation.
  • Our Special Character Leaders (Ainemaria Burrell, Emma Simpson and Pippa Thomson) gave an informative presentation at assembly and awarded prizes for best dressed.
  • Mrs Konnings Year 11 RST class raised awareness within the College community and held a sausage sizzle.
  • Mrs Gillies Year 12 SOC class raised awareness in the South Canterbury community by approaching schools, community groups and businesses and getting them involved in pink shirt day.

Thank you to everybody who supported the sausage sizzle, and Pink Shirt day on Friday the 21st. We had a great day, and raised a lot of money to donate to the NZ Mental Health Foundation. This will go to helping those who deal with bullying in their daily lives, and supporting mental health resources, such as counsellors, and campaigns to raise further awareness of bullying in schools.
