Roncalli College Prepares for Winter Uniforms in Term 2: A Guide to Uniform Expectations
With the arrival of Term 2, Roncalli College is gearing up for the transition from summer to winter uniforms. This change not only reflects the shift in seasons but also reinforces the school's commitment to maintaining a professional and cohesive environment.
To ensure clarity and compliance with our uniform standards, we present a comprehensive guide to the expectations for hair, makeup, jewellery, shoes, socks, and non-uniform items.
Hair:
- Must be clean, tidy, and kept off the face.
- Tied back when necessary for certain activities or specialist subjects.
- Limited to one natural color with no extreme hairstyles or colors.
- Students must be clean-shaven, except for religious or cultural reasons.
Makeup:
- Light, discreet foundation suitable for a positive work environment.
- Clear or nude-colored nail polish only.
Jewellery:
- Watches are permitted, with reference to mobile device regulations.
- Small, discreet stud earrings or small, discreet hoop earrings, limited to a maximum of three per ear.
- No dangling earrings for health and safety reasons.
- No facial piercings for health and safety reasons.
- One taonga (bone or greenstone carving) or one item of cultural/religious/family significance may be worn as a necklace/bracelet, appropriate to a positive work environment.
- Special items or cultural tattoos require permission from the principal.
Shoes:
- Plain mid-brown or black leather shoes with a low heel.
- Lace-up, slip-on, T-bar, or strap shoes in all black or brown leather with no labels or other colors.
- Closed-in shoes required in all specialist classrooms for health and safety.
- Jandals, slides, Birkenstocks, Crocs, sneakers, and skate shoes are not permitted.
Socks:
- Pale blue ankle socks (available from the school office) with the summer skirt.
- Knee-length navy socks/tights with the winter kilt.
- Pale blue walk socks or navy-blue unbranded crew socks with shorts and pants.
- Navy blue crew socks for students wearing shorts.
School Ties:
- Senior students (Year 11-13) must wear the school tie with the blazer.
- Optional for junior students with the winter uniform, except for formal occasions.
School Jacket:
- Only the Roncalli College jackets are permitted. Hoodies are not permitted during school time except for PE classes.
- No non-regulation hoodies, puffer jackets, hats, or visible undergarments.
- Jackets or hoodies not to be worn during formal occasions.
In cases where students cannot meet uniform requirements, they must provide a signed note from home, and a temporary uniform pass will be issued by their year level dean. Non-uniform items such as sweatshirts, hoodies, and puffer jackets will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day. Continual non-compliance will result in contact with parents.
Winter Options:(any combination)
Shirt: Long sleeve, pale blue
Kilt: Roncalli tartan
Tie: Yr 13 tie, college tie for seniors,optional for juniors (except for formal occasions)
Pants: Long grey pants
Jersey/Vest: Maroon (Kairanga) optional
Shorts: Navy blue

Notes from Sue:
- Girls wear long knee length navy socks or stockings, these can be purchased from the Warehouse, Farmers or similar retailers.
- The Roncalli hoodies have been ordered and we expect them early in term 2 as they are produced overseas.
- The jerseys have now arrived and are available to purchase.
- Ties – both ties are available from the office. The year 13 tie is $35.00 while the regular tie is $28.00.
