Thanksgiving Mass

On Monday we farewelled our Year 13 cohort for 2023 at a Mass of Thanksgiving in the Basilica. The whole school joined in thanking God for a successful and safe school year at the College. It was also an opportunity for the school to thank and acknowledge the Year 13s for their service to Roncalli over the past five years. In recognition of their service they also received their leavers gift which were blessed by Father Mark (sm).

Father Mark reminded the entire school of Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli’s Daily Decalogue, in particular no.6 “Only for today, I will do one good deed and not tell anyone about it”. He encouraged all present to continue doing acts of kindness and reminded us of God’s love for us all. We thank Father Mark for walking alongside the College again this year and supporting our student leaders.

This whole school celebration of the Eucharist was particularly special as Miri  Allan was received into the Catholic Church with the Sacrament of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. This was a wonderful acknowledgement of your faith Miri, thank you for allowing us to witness and share in this special occasion.

Year 13 Exit Retreat

On Monday afternoon Year 13 spent the afternoon with the Young Marist Team reflecting on their years at Roncalli and looking ahead to their next steps in life. It was a reflective and fun afternoon of bonding and sharing one last time together as a group. Many thanks to Mr Hinton and Sally for supporting this event.

Junior Scripture Reading

Last week the Junior Scripture Reading competition was held. The inaugural Junior Te Reo Māori Scripture Reading Competition was also held. The standard across all categories was high and bodes well for the future of public speaking at the College. Congratulations to all who participated in the competition.
