๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›Our Chemocare Bags ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™

Sally Betts —

An wonderful example of Roncalli students living out our College values of compassion, hospitality & service

Over the last eighteen months, a small group of students have successfully supplied Chemocare bags to oncology at Timaru hospital.

Everyone that starts their chemotherapy journey gets a bag to brighten their day and put a smile on their face. We are supplying approximately 20 -30 bags every couple of months, depending on demand as we stay in close contact with the Oncology nurses and deliver when needed.

We have been generously supported by local business and this has been vital in keeping the bags going, Heartland chips, Glowing sky clothing, Ashbury pharmacy, Roberts pharmacy, Fonterra, Columbus coffee, Replenish cafรฉ, 7th heaven soaps, Arthur street cafรฉ as well as donations from Timaru Lions and excellent business advice from Clarity consulting.

Fourteen years ago I was on the receiving end of gifts when I was going through a year of chemotherapy with a young family. Knowing that others were thinking of me was essential to my ability to keep going everyday, taking one step at a time and to continue to be there for my family.

We have bags ready to distribute throughout the holiday break but will need to restock supplies in the new year so that we are able to continue with this initiative. Puzzle books, soaps, pens as well as sweet treats, travel mugs and coffee sachets are a few of the items we are needing to start off the year. If you are wanting to help, these items can be dropped off to the Roncalli College office before the end of the year or in the new year.

Thank you to all that have supported us so far, it means a lot to be able to help others and support our wider community.
