Junior Aoraki Sports Week Opportunity

Junior students from all Aoraki Secondary Schools had many opportunities to take parts in a variety of sports events during the Junior Aoraki Sports Week.

After what has been a challenging year it was great to see the students out there have fun, with lots of smiles and laughter. 

Well done to everyone involved, it was so great to see you out there having some fun. Special thank you to Shaun Campbell and his team from Sport Canterbury with local sporting organisations making this junior sports week happen.


Touch Rugby ~ Monday 16 November

Year 10's were winners of the mixed grade.Results: won vs Waimate 4 - 2; won vs Ronc Yr9 4 - 1; won vs Geraldine 4 - 3; won vs 5 - 3. Congratulations to the team and thank you Mr Caird for coaching and taking the team for the day.Year 9's: beat Waimate; drew with Mackenzie 1 - 1; lost Geraldine 5 - 1; lost to Ronc Yr10 1 - 4. Thank you Mr Jones for Coaching and taking the team on the day.Special thank you to Ella Sugrue, William Laing and Angus Rooney who gave up their time to referee for the day.

Tennis ~ Monday 16 November

Well done to Jai Crowe and Molly Phillips were winners of the mixed grade.Thank you Mrs Herbert for organising the tennis and thank you to Mrs Dickerson for taking the students for the day.

Caroline Bay Relay ~ Tuesday 17 November

We had a girls and a boys team compete in the Caroline Bay Relay. Congratulations to year 9 student Archie Jones who got the fastest lap in a new record time of 6 minutes and 3 seconds.

Thank you to Mrs Dickerson for organising and managing the students for the afternoon.

Hockey ~ Wednesday 18 November

Roncalli had two mixed hockey teams join in the fun at the turf on Wednesday. There were 20 teams, consisting of boys, girls and mixed take part in the day. Thank you to Tracey Toshach for looking after the students for the day.

Well done to the Volleyball teams who took part on Thursday and to Mr Hines for organising the teams and being there.

Thank you to Ms Wheeler for taking the Badminton girls team on Friday.
