About authenticity ...

Belinda Leckie —

Authenticity is a cornerstone of NCEA assessments. It is the assurance that students are producing their own work.

Teachers must be confident that the work submitted for assessment has been produced by the learner, without undue assistance from others.

Plagiarism is not permitted. Plagiarism is when work is copied from other people or sources without acknowledging the work as belonging to someone else. If a student wants to use someone else's words, those words must be placed inside quotation marks and attributed to the person. Teachers will guide students about the appropriate amount of quotations to use.

Teachers notify the principal's nominee of any suspected breaches of authenticity. The principal's nominee will investigate each case. Our current principal's nominee is the assistant principal, Ms Belinda Leckie.

After investigation, if a student is found to have breached authenticity, a grade of Not Achieved will be awarded and they will not be able to attempt the standard again. A student may appeal this Not Achieved decision in the same way as other appeals, using the google form available on the school website.
