Kahui Ako / South Canterbury Catholic Community of Learning Term Two Update Roncalli College, St Joseph’s Timaru, Sacred Heart, St Joseph’s Temuka, St Joseph’s Pleasant Point

Term two is shaping up to be a busy term for our Kahui Ako. As a collaborative network of South Canterbury Catholic schools we are continuing to work together to achieve our Community of Learning goals. These goals fall under the headings of:

  • Improved outcomes for students
  • Teachers as professional learners
  • Working collaboratively
  • Strengthening our Catholic community
  • Facilitating a smooth transition between primary and secondary school

Over the last months teachers have participated in a number of events that have involved sharing knowledge and expertise to raise student achievement. These have included a combined staff meeting attended by the teachers from all five schools, classroom teachers visiting each other’s schools and classrooms and special interest groups such as SENCO teachers meeting to share ideas and best practice.

Roncalli College is fortunate to have three staff members who have been appointed to the roles of Within School Teachers:  Guy Sutherland,  Jo Bennett and  Caitlin McIvor.  These staff members work to facilitate the Kahui Ako goals by supporting the wider Roncalli staff.
