National Age Group Swimming Champs ~ NAGS

Three Roncalli swimmers (Matthew Gray, Luka Foy and Natasha Pannett) will be travelling to Wellington in the first week of the school holidays to compete in the NZ Age Group Champs.

This event allows the fastest swimmers in the country to compete for age group titles. To qualify for this national event, Luka, Natasha and Matt have had to meet or better the qualifying times. Matt and Natasha will travel and represent the Swim Timaru team. Luka is the sole representative of the Temuka Swimming Club, and has been invited to travel with the Christchurch-based Vikings Swim Club.

The event runs over 5 full days with heats in the morning and finals at night. They will swim between four and six events each:

  • Matthew has six events in breaststroke, individual medleys, fly and backstroke
  • Luka has four events in backstroke and freestyle; and
  • Natasha as four freestyle events

Their main aim is to swim personal bests and make finals. We wish them luck!!
