For my placement I work at Phar Lap Cafe, I do many different jobs such as dishes, serving customers, preparing and making food and drinks.

Gateway is a great opportunity for you to decide what career you want to pursue, Gateway has helped me to find my career direction. There are many credits that I have gained through this course that have helped me get my Level 2 such as my food and hospitality booklets and practical work, I have gained a job on Saturdays and I am enjoying it.

Before I started Gateway I had my heart set on being a personal trainer but having two taster days I decided I had more of a passion to be a business owner, I talked to Mrs Mehrtens about where I wanted to head with this and I decided to do something in the food and hospitality industry.  

This course has helped me learn what direction to go in and has also helped me grow, I would highly recommend taking this course to help make the right decision for you. When I finish school I am hopefully heading up to Christchurch to study Marketing and Sales and a Certificate in Small Business at Ara Institute.
