‘Your the Voice’ Social Justice Day
A group of Year 13 students participated in the ‘Your the Voice’ Social Justice Day hosted by St. Thomas of Canterbury College in Christchurch a few weeks ago. This day consisted of guest speakers, small group discussions as well meeting students from the other Catholic secondary schools in the Diocese. This day provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to think about social justice issues, and how to work together to help in a constructive and caring way. We thank St Thomas’ and Mrs Robb for supporting this day.
Loaves and Fishes
Many thanks to the staff and students of our Angelo Service Group who give of their time every second Wednesday of the term to greet, serve hot soup and chat to the parishioners of Holy Family Parish. We truly love being able to help our community and live out our Roncalli values. If you would like to support the Loaves and Fishes lunch service please do not hesitate to contact Sally on s.betts@roncalli.school.nz if you would like to donate any vegetables for the soups.
Year 9 Retreat
The theme of our Year 9 Retreat this year was ‘How to be of service to others’. Taking inspiration from Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli and Pope Franics students had time reflecting on the message of the Gospels, thinking about how they can help each other, the school and wider community. Students also enjoyed a range of team-building activities led by their house leaders. Many thanks to all who helped support and prepare the retreats.
