Chris Comeau —

It is doing things together that builds a strong community

I would like to acknowledge and thank the PTA for organising and running a very successful Roncalli Fair. We had perfect weather, a variety of stalls and activities, and a very good crowd. I would also like to thank all those who volunteered their time, donated baking, and sold raffle tickets.

While the fair is the major PTA fundraiser, it is also, more importantly, a community event where families can come and enjoy the day. It is doing things together that builds a strong community. Some of the proceeds from the fair will be used for the library upgrade which is due to start shortly and be ready for the 2023 school year. It will be used as a modern and flexible space for students.

Last week, we officially farewelled our Year 13 students. We started the day with a breakfast that the staff prepared for the students and then celebrated the Year 13 Leavers Liturgy. It was a very special and memorable morning and I commend the students for the way they finished their time at Roncalli. They have been good ambassadors for the College and leave behind a strong legacy of service. They are an impressive and capable cohort, and we wish them all the best for their futures.

NCEA exams began on 7 November, and I would like to wish all the students well. It can be quite a stressful time for many. It has been good to see so many coming into school during study leave to take advantage of the tutorials on offer.

Finally, I would like to remind the community that our whole school prizegiving is scheduled for Wednesday 7 December at 7.00pm in the Sacred Heart Basilica. We look forward to returning to this special celebration after the disruption of Covid in 2021.
