Our first week has been busy. On Monday we welcomed our new students and staff at a mihi whakatau. Students spent the day getting to know each other at house events as well. Formal classes started on Tuesday.

 Here's some information that may be useful for getting started:

• All parents have been sent an email with instructions on how to get onto our new portal. We no longer use EDGE and have moved to KAMAR. If you have questions about this please contact m.pribis@roncalli.school.nz. This will allow parents and students to see information on NCEA results, daily notices attendance, timetable, finances, etc.

• If you have any questions about rules, timetables, important phone numbers, uniform, etc. You can find it here in the student handbook. The handbook also sets out the procedure for appointments, students must sign in/out as appropriate through the College Office. When signing out, a student must have a note from their parent/caregiver that explains/ justifies leaving the College grounds, alternatively you may email or phone the office. The College office hours are 8.30am and 4.00pm.

• Under the red traffic light students are expected to wear a mask when inside or on a bus unless they have an exemption. Students are also required to wear a fluoro vest when waiting for the bus.

• Here are a few key habits that help students be successful:

  • Be on time. Students should be in their first period class at 8:50 am.

  • Have the proper uniform. Details of the proper uniform can be found in the student handbook.

  • Set a study time to revise every day. Make it phone free and read a book if you don’t have school work to do.

  • Create a study nook. Have one place to study. It may be on the kitchen table, the living room couch, or a desk. Try to find someplace without distractions.

  • Be healthy. Eat right, sleep right, and exercise. We have a new company running the tuck shop this year with many healthy options orders can be placed online
