Inspiring Joy and Empowerment: Student Volunteering at Roncalli College!

Cathy Shearer —

Join the wonderful world of student volunteering at Roncalli College and make a positive impact on your community. Spread joy, kindness and create lasting memories while giving back. Together, let's light up the lives of those around us and create a brighter future for all. Explore the incredible opportunities awaiting you.

Being a student is not just about attending classes and studying for exams. It is also an opportunity to make a positive difference in the community. Roncalli College understands this and encourages our students to engage in volunteering activities with the support of the SVA Service Award and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.

Volunteering provides students with a unique chance to develop important life skills while giving back to society. At Roncalli College, our student volunteering program is thriving, and the impact it has on both the students and the community is truly remarkable.

One of the key benefits of student volunteering is the opportunity for personal growth. By participating in various community service projects, students gain valuable experiences and develop essential qualities such as empathy, compassion, and leadership skills. These experiences shape them into well-rounded individuals who are not only academically successful but also socially responsible.

Moreover, student volunteering at Roncalli College fosters a sense of belonging and community spirit. Students work alongside their peers, teachers, and community members, forming strong bonds and creating a supportive network. This sense of unity and teamwork not only enhances their overall school experience but also strengthens the community as a whole.

Another positive aspect of student volunteering is its positive impact on the community. Roncalli College students actively contribute to various local initiatives, such as supporting our food banks, organising fundraisers for charitable organisations, and participating in environmental clean-up projects. Students’ dedication and enthusiasm make a significant difference in the lives of those they serve.

Student volunteering at Roncalli College is an enlightening and transformative experience. It instils a sense of purpose, empowers students to become agents of positive change, and sets them on a path to fulfilling and meaningful lives.

As well as volunteering in our community, Roncallians join groups within the College that support a variety of wonderful initiatives:

  • Roncalli Z Club

  • Chemo Care Packages

  • Loaves & Fishes

  • Aroha Freezer

  • Flex Day Social Justice Service Project

  • 1RST Social Justice Projects

Roncalli College's student volunteering programme is a shining example of how education goes beyond the classroom walls. It cultivates compassionate and socially conscious individuals who are eager to make a difference. The positive impact on both the students and the community cannot be overstated. Student volunteering at Roncalli College is truly an enriching and rewarding journey.
